Welcome to FigureSkatingBoys.com!
My name is Isabel Isidro, and I’m the proud mom of three boys who grew up on the ice—Antonio, Jon, and Juan Carlos (JC) Maravilla. Our family’s figure skating journey began back in 2007, when my oldest son first laced up his skates. Before long, all three of my boys were skating, and our lives have been intertwined with the sport ever since.
Over the years, I’ve witnessed figure skating from nearly every angle—singles, pairs, ice dance, and collegiate skating. Each path has brought unique challenges, sacrifices, and joys, not just for my boys but for me as a parent.
- Antonio, my oldest, was a collegiate novice champion who has since transitioned away from competitive skating and is now working full-time while pursuing his master’s degree. He has expressed his interest in becoming a tech specialist for singles skating.
- Jon, my second son, shifted from singles to pairs, represented Team USA, and competed at the U.S. Nationals in both disciplines.
- JC, my youngest, is currently searching for an ice dance partner to compete at the junior level.
Through these experiences, I’ve come to understand the highs and lows of raising figure skaters—the dedication, the financial and emotional investments, the thrill of competitions, and the lessons that extend far beyond the rink.
This site is my way of sharing what I’ve learned with other parents. Whether your son is just stepping onto the ice or already chasing big competitive dreams, I hope you’ll find tips, resources, and stories here that guide and inspire you.
Figure skating has given so much to my family, and I believe in building a supportive community for parents who are navigating this same path.
If you’d like to learn more about our story, I invite you to read this Washington Post article, which features my boys and their journey.
Thank you for visiting FigureSkatingBoys.com. I’m glad you’re here, and I hope this site becomes a helpful companion in your family’s own skating adventure.
